Rev. Kathy Dykes

Kathy Dykes served as Worship and Associate Pastor at Oakmont Church of God in Shreveport with her husband Don Dykes for 9 years and is presently working with different churches as a consultant in worship ministry and church administration in Northeast Texas & Northwest Louisiana.

Kathy was born November 7, 1955, in Shreveport, Louisiana.  She was raised on Caddo Lake in a community near Oil City in a conservative Christian home & has always been active in church. In 1981 she married Donald Dykes and they have 3 children and 6 great grandchildren.

In 1985 Kathy (and Don) established and operated Dykes Oil Company, Inc. which began as an independent oil production company that grew into a successful oilfield service company.  Through the years while raising children, Kathy (and Don) began traveling and serving in evangelistic worship ministry.   In 2002 while participating in a concert at Oakmont Church of God, the late Dr. Billy Franks came into their lives.  He blessed them by taking them on many mission trips were they began ministering overseas & fell in love with mission work!  Shortly after moving to Oakmont Church of God, Kathy began leading Bible Studies & eventually the Praise Choir.  Five years later God called her into full-time ministry when she joined the Oakmont Church of God staff.

Matthew 6:33 is Kathy’s favorite verse: “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”  Kathy has a passion to see others experience Jesus and fall in love with Him as she has.  Her desire is to lead people into becoming followers of Jesus.  How sweet it is to be loved by HIM!
